Services and Programs - Residential Care
OHP’s Residential Treatment Program specializes in providing
longer-term treatment for children and adolescents who have failed
to respond effectively in previous placements.
What makes us different?
This trauma-based program utilizes the principles
of the Collaborative Problem Solving Model as the foundation for
all therapies. Treatment
begins with
an assessment. Under the direction of a child/adolescent psychiatrist,
a multi-disciplinary treatment team evaluates each patient and develops
a special treatment plan that addresses the patient’s needs.
The team includes psychologists, social workers, activity/recreational
therapists, family therapists, dieticians, psychiatric nurses and
teachers. The child is then assigned to a “track.”
Each track has a designated social worker,
psychiatrist, and mental health associates. All four tracks have
distinct and separate programming.
The CPS model is utilized in each of the tracks and the client’s
progression is measured daily.

- At-Risk girls track (14-17)

Academics
Even though psychiatric treatment is the primary
emphasis, education is a critical part of each child’s day. Children attend classes
in an accredited school on the RTC campus. Each child receives a
significant amount of individualized attention in order to achieve
the academic goals set by the child’s treatment team. Our specially
trained teachers and aides use hands-on instruction and computers
to foster enjoyable learning. The child’s progress, grades,
and recommendations are forwarded to his/her home school after discharge.
Each class has a certified teacher, teacher’s
aid and a Mental Health Associate. Together, they work with each
child to not only maintain their present academic status but move
forward as well.
Referrals and Admissions
Referrals to our Residential Treatment Program can be made by family,
physicians, school counselors, friends, mental health professionals,
managed care organizations and other caring individuals or agencies.
To consider a patient for admission, we request pertinent clinical
information be available for review by our clinical team. Aftercare
and discharge planning are initiated at the time of admission and
reflect the continued therapeutic needs of the child. Inquiries and/or
referrals may be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residential
treatment services are covered by most major medical insurance carriers.
