Services and Programs - Diagnostic Evaluation Center
OHP’s Diagnostic Evaluation Care Hospital Program
is a psychiatric intensive care program designed to stabilize a child
or adolescent’s immediate crises while providing the patient
and family with a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation.
What makes us different?
Within 24-hours a comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation summary is
completed and given to the parents or guardian of the child. This
evaluation includes the testing completed and the results, the course
of treatment and a summary section including further treatment recommendations.
In addition, we include “triggers” leading to each child’s
behaviors and teach children and their families how to change these
behaviors.
The Diagnostic Evaluation includes the following
tests:
- Psychiatric
- Psychosocial
- Psychological testing
- Nursing
- Recreational Therapy
- Education/School
Patient Profile
- Males and Females, ages 4-17
- Suicidal thoughts/attempts
- Severe depression
- Hallucinations
- Sexual acting out
- Anger/rage
- Severe attention deficit-hyperactivity disorders
- Erratic mood
swings
- School suspensions/expulsions
- Other mental health problems
For
these interventions to be successful and sustainable, parents, providers
and guardians must be trained in these principles. Therefore, in
addition to family therapy, we have designated staff who will assist
in the transition of our clients to their next home, by training
the guardians the principles of the CPS model.
Referrals and Admission
Referrals for admission to the Diagnostic Evaluation
Center come from a variety of sources including, but not limited
to, psychiatrists
or other physicians, therapists, social service workers, parents
or family members and managed care carriers. Each referral is assessed
by the admission specialist and seen by a physician to determine
recommendation for treatment. Discharge planning is initiated at
the time of admission and revised during the child’s impatient
stay. The discharge plan includes recommendations for further treatment,
follow-up activities and medication management.
